571 High Road, Ilford

571 High Road, Ilford

Overview

571 High Road is an attractive residential development comprising 35 one- and two-bedroom apartments set just a short distance away from Ilford’s key transport links and thriving centre. The project is part of a wider plan to invest in residential and commercial hubs across London, with the aim to make it a globally outstanding place to live and work.

Vobster Architectural were engaged to supply the wet cast stone elements for this project, and worked with GML Architects and Balf Construction to deliver the modern design to the highest standards.

Concept to Completion

Ilford is renowned for its history of supplying black and white film, something that has greatly informed the architectural design of this building. The facade is split into grid-like sections, primarily made up of a yellow facing brick. Accented white and black brickwork strips were installed as design features, with the aim of emulating the look of photographic contact sheets. Continuing this theme, the wet cast stone supplied by Vobster Architectural was used to create heads and string courses which break up the brickwork, contributing to the grid like design.

Cast stone was also used to elevate the aesthetic of the balcony fascia. The installation posed a logistical challenge, for which the expert team at Vobster Architectural were able to provide support. A Portland colourway was chosen for all the cast stone elements, intensifying the overarching elegant aesthetic with its classic finish.

Throughout the project, emphasis was placed on using the finest quality materials with the aim to create a harmonious and contemporary space, which blends beautifully into the existing architecture. The thoughtful design rooted in local history makes this building a future classic that will elevate the standard of living in Iford for years to come.
