Fulham Reach, London
Overview
Located to the east of Hammersmith Bridge, Fulham Reach is a mixed-use development comprising 744 one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom apartments along with four houses, 25% of which are designated as affordable accommodation. The scheme also provides retail space, a restaurant and gym, all designed with contemporary riverside living in mind.
Vobster Architectural worked with developers St George and JTP Architects to provide the cast stone elements for the project, which were installed by Lee Marley Brickwork. The aim was to create a scheme that complements the high-end aesthetic that prevails throughout the surrounding area, while cultivating its own unique character.
Concept to Completion
The proposal for the development followed an extensive community engagement process over a period of 12 months. The resulting design is focused around the creation of a central boulevard, connecting public streets and improving riverside walks.
The buildings that make up the scheme were intended to blend in with the area’s existing vernacular, while also creating a visually pleasing and slightly contrasting aesthetic. The combination of sleek glass balconies and classic cast stone brings the development into the twenty first century, while maintaining the grandeur of classic London architecture.
Wet cast stone was chosen as the secondary facade material for the scheme due to its well-known durability and enduring quality, meaning the property will maintain its aesthetic appeal for posterity. Vobster Architectural supplied a large number of wet cast heads, cills, and jambs, plinths, copings and band courses, creating beautiful architectural features across the building facade.
